On Wednesday, August 6th, CRAN Charleston was presented with a plaque from the American Red Cross for support of their Heroes for Fire Victims Campaign.  CRAN is honored to be able to support such a worthy cause and humbled to be associated with this wonderful service that the American Red Cross provides.  Trevor Draper received the plaque on behalf of CRAN Charleston from Fire Chief Karen Brack at the new CFD Station #9, which opened last November.

Southern Lumber is offering a lunch and learn opportunity for western red cedar products on July 10th at 12:00 at the Marina Variety Store. There are no CE credits currently available, but it promises to be an informal, packed full of valuable information, meeting and lunch will be provided. Southern Lumber will review the wide variety of products available in western red cedar, specifically shakes and shingles, timbers, boards, patterns and clear grades. Dec 2013 A group of Charleston based architects recently traveled to Aliquippa PA to visit the headquarters of Versatex Trimboard. Versatex is a leading maker of cellular PVC trim. While wood is still the most widely used exterior trim material in the US market, cellular PVC trim is becoming increasingly popular for a number of reasons. CRAN Charleston will have a special meeting at the American College of Building Arts' facility in the Old City Jail  (21 Magazine Street) on Thursday, February 20th from 6-8pm. The ACBA is the only college in America offering a baccalaureate degree in applied sciences in the building arts. The ACBA will give a tour of their facilities at the jail followed by a presentation about the school from ACBA President, Colby Broadwater III. The American College of the Building Arts educates and trains artisans in the traditional building arts to foster exceptional craftsmanship and encourage the preservation, enrichment, and understanding of the world's architectural heritage [...]

Tim Barkley, publisher of Charleston Home + Design Magazine has been instrumental in the promotion of our group, Charleston CRAN. Members of Charleston CRAN strongly endorse the efforts that Tim has made in the promotion of our local building and design industries. Through the magazine and special events such as the Custom Home and Design Show, and the Custom Home and Remodel Show, Charleston home buyers have been kept abreast of what our local architects, builders, and building material suppliers have to offer. On February 21, 2013 members of CRAN Charleston met on Kiawah Island, SC. Members toured the LEED Platinum home designed by Christopher Rose Architects. The home is one of several prototypes designed for Indigo Park, Kiawah's premier green real estate neighborhood.
